Paris - Day 4

We got up a little after 6:00, got ready, and quickly finished packing. We checked out just after 6:30 and went down to the breakfast area hoping that we weren't too early for breakfast. Unfortunately, no one showed up with food for us, so we went up to wait for our cab in the lobby.

After a being dropped off at the airport, we went in search of Lufthansa Airlines' check in desk. We found one line that looked correct, but while we were waiting in it, we realized our tickets said the flight was "operated by BMI", so we left our spot in line and went to find the BMI desk. This turned out to be a horrible decision, because after waiting in three other lines we finally ended up right back in the same line we had started in, which turned out to be the correct line after all. Luckily, we had arrived very early and still had plenty of time before our departure gate would even be announced.

By this point we were getting hungry, but we had already passed through security and weren't sure how much hassle it would be to leave the secure area and return. Our options for food were meager, so we eventually decided to get some pre-wrapped sandwiches from a little cafe stand. Unfortunately, the sandwiches were awful, so we only ate a few bites before deciding to just nibble on the snacks we had brought and wait until our flight in hopes that we would get something decent from the airline.

It was a short flight back to London's Heathrow Airport. On the way in, we too worn out to look around Heathrow Airport, so we were glad to get a chance to explore it this time. We had fish and chips again at the same restaurant, since we had enjoyed it on the way in. After a long flight back to the U.S., we were exhausted and were very glad that Julie's parents had arranged for a limousine to pick us up. During the ride, we alternated between excitedly recounting our memories and sitting in stunned silence of what we had experienced. Eventually exhaustion took over, and we took an enjoyable little nap during the final miles of our ride home2.
