After returning from our honeymoon we created these web pages as a "virtual scrapbook".
You can browse the pages chronologically by visiting
the calendar and clicking on the days. You can also use the menu on the left to visit the pages for each individual page or to browse by photo gallery.
We only took a few photos of ourselves on our honeymoon, so we thought we'd put them all here on the front page.
The first picture on the right was taken in our apartment on the Singel Canal in Amsterdam. The apartment was great, but if we
were really tall the low ceilings could have been a problem. It reminded us a bit of being in a hobbit hole, so we took this picture to
try and illustrate that perspective.
On our first day in Paris we took the RER out to Versailles. We specifically went on Sunday because we had heard that on Sundays the fountains run, and classical music is played in the gardens.
We saw the fountains running while we were in the Chateau, but by the time we got out to the gardens, the fountains had shut off. We overheard that another show would begin around 15:30, and we hurried from across the gardens
to try and catch it. We made it in plenty of time. Here is a picture of us standing in front of one of the fountains near the chateau. We
think this was the "Latona Fountain" which showed the twins, Apollo & Artemis, with their mother, Latona (Leto).
The story goes that the villagers were making fun of the kids, so their father, Zeus, turned the villagers into frogs.
On our second day in Paris we went to a combo dinner/river cruise. For dinner we ate at Altitude 95, which is a restaurant in the Eiffel Tower.
After dinner we caught a bus which took us a couple of blocks away to the Seine River, where we got onto a glass topped boat for a sightseeing cruise.
We had about 45 minutes of time between dinner and the cruise, so even though it was overcast and rainy we walked around the park near the Eiffel Tower.
We saw an American girl taking pictures of other couples in the park, and so we asked her to take this one for us.
Julie's parents had arranged for a limo to pick us up at the airport after we got back from Europe. This was really nice because we had been up for almost 24 hours by then, and we were exhausted. We had had a great time, but
it was nice to be home2 again. We had missed our cats, and it was a relief to no longer have to deal with a language barrier.
