On the way to Cooperstown we stopped at the Fly Creek Cider Mill.
The mill was built in 1856 as multi-use water mill, but in 1964 it was redeveloped as a family attraction.
It is still a working cider mill today, but also has educational information as well as a large gift shop where
dozens of snacks and drinks can be sampled. We decided to buy a block of cheese, and some apples and crackers, and
bring it to Cooperstown for lunch. Cooperstown was founded in 1786 by Judge William Cooper, father of
James Fenimore Cooper. After leaving, we
stopped at the Belgian style Ommegang Brewery just south of Cooperstown.
